Alternative Generation
Luca De Gennaro

This event is hosted by Pi-Philly: Professionisti Italiani a Philadelphia.

Join Luca De Gennaro on a unique journey as he retraces fundamental stages of his career, from local radio stations to the Sanremo Music Festival, Italy’s renowned song context broadcast worldwide. He will present his latest books: Pop Life—which explores how CDs replaced tapes and vinyl, and how pop music icons like Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, Duran Duran, and Whitney Houston captivated audiences with outstanding live performances, and Alternative Generation—a vivid depiction of the 90s, when raves began to dominate and new rock vibes from bands like Metallica, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam emerged, challenging the iconic status of pop stars such as Madonna, New Kids On The Block, and Mariah Carey.

A Q&A session will follow the presentation. Light Refreshment will be served.

Luca De Gennaro is a Professor of Music Communication at the Cattolica University of Milan (IT), a speaker for National Radio Station, and serves as the Vice President of Talent & Music for South Europe and the Middle East.
